Hospital Chaplain

The chaplaincy team works as part of the overall health care team, but in particular within the Chaplaincy department. We seek to create an environment in which individual needs can be recognised and valued.

The purpose of the Catholic Chaplaincy team

To provide for the sacramental, spiritual, and pastoral needs of patients, relatives and staff of the Trust, specifically for those who are Catholic, but also working in conjunction with the chaplaincy team to ensure all patients, relatives and staff needs are met.

The Team

Fr Andrew Allman is the Hospital Chaplain, working part-time at the hospital in addition to his duties at St Clare's. Working alongside him is assistant chaplain, Sr Anne, and a team of dedicated volunteers who can visit, pray with patients and bring them Holy Communion. A priest is available on-call 24 hours a day for emergencies, and should always be contacted via the hospital switchboard. Staff on the ward will be able to help with this.

God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference.
