Confirmation DayTo deepen our friendship with Jesus through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Despite the snow and ice, Father Loughran, catechists and children set off for Brettargh Holt in Kendal on Saturday 9th January 2010.

As the bus steered cautiously up the drive towards the large oak-panelled doors, there were gasps in awe and wonder at the beautiful winter setting: an air of peace, calm and stillness was immediate. As we stepped off the coach we were warmly greeted by Sister Anne and her team.  Once inside, the day began with Welcome and “Ice-Breakers”.  This was followed by Prayer and three main sessions which explored “Who is Jesus for me?”, “Jesus tells us who He is” and “The Holy Spirit gives us the power to follow Jesus”.  Woven through the sessions were a variety of active workshops including art, drama, creative dance, writing, reflection and prayer.

Following lunch and before the final session the children (and adults!) ventured out into the winter wonderland of untouched snow for some organised fun time, creating some beautiful snow sculptures.  The day ended with a session of joyful praise, prayer and reflection.

In all, this truly was a most prayerful, active and vibrant day, full of a tangible serenity and warmth throughout, as we take our first steps on the journey towards receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation.
