As the Paschal Moon hung heavy and full the third phase of our sacred Triduum began: The Easter Vigil. In this Vigil, when we celebrate Christ rising from the dead, all things are made new. We bless fire, light and water; we proclaim the Gospel of the Resurrection, we renew our own Baptismal Promises. We sing ‘Alleluia’ as we celebrate the first Mass of Easter and receive the Risen Lord in Holy Communion.
It is at this celebration when new members are welcomed into the Church. We were glad to welcome Paul Butterworth who has been journeying over the last months in the RCIA programme, into full communion with the Church. Great joy pervaded the ceremony as each element unfolded. We were told in the homily that the whole celebration was about life for Jesus was indeed risen from the dead!
Holy Mass over we repaired to the Parish Hall for a celebration of another kind!
A happy and holy Easter!
