Golden October has declined into sombre November, as Eliot has it in Murder in the Cathedral, and the month of remembrance is upon us. And so it was that on the first Sunday of November a Service was held to pray for the dead and for the bereaved.

The above title is lifted from the Letter of St James and forms part of the introductory rite to the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick. That Sacrament was celebrated at St Clare's on Monday 28th October within a Mass organised by the St Vincent de Paul Society. They provided transport for some of our less mobile parishioners and lunch afterwards in the Parish Hall for those who wanted it.

A sensational autumn day dawned and the children of St Clare's school filed quietly into church to lead a Service of Thanksgiving for the Harvest.

Today's 9.30am Mass was awash with children and their families. Two events were combined: our boys and girls in Year 6 helped to lead the liturgy: greeting & welcoming, reading the scriptures, singing & bringing forward the offertory gifts. The second event, an annual occurrance, in which the children of Year 3 age enrolled in the First Confession Programme. All were asked to support the boys & girls with prayer.
